Jessica Pallante - March 2011, Boise

Jessica Pallante (age 23) has no formal training of which to speak. She has been taking pictures since the age of 8 when a disposable camera was given to her while vacationing at the Oregon Coast. Her cameras are no longer disposable, but she is still taking pictures on a daily basis. A North-Ender by birth, and now by choice, her work has it's geographical limitations, as the greater body of her work is of Downtown Boise. "I believe" she says "I'm a photographer first, and a kind of archivist second. I love our downtown... The best way to get to know any city is by walking it's streets. You must walk down alley ways, through neighborhoods. I shoot what I see on buildings, sidewalks, light poles, dumpsters, wherever I find something that inspires me."

Her photos are urban in nature, and transitory, since so much of the street art is short lived. She captures with the camera's eye images, although soon gone, not forgotten.

"There is so much artistic talent in this city. You see it in the downtown in particular, and not just limited to the galleries. My hope is that others will enjoy it as much as I do."
